How it all Started!

It would have been about 10-11 years ago when I decided to start softball. The only reason I started softball was because my best friend convinced me to play because her sisters all played and they loved it. My dad took me outside everyday to do some extra practicing and I really enjoyed it. My first team I was on was called the Starmies. A Starmie is a character from Pokemon (Pokemon trading cards were totally cool, back in the day). The first division is T-ball, where the players hit off a tee, rather then hitting off a pitcher. Even though there was no pitchers at the time, my dad still took me outside to help me with my pitching. Therefore, I got a good head start on my pitching. My inspiration for pitching at the time was a family friend. I saw her pitch once, and since that moment, I have wanted to be just like her. After T-ball and after 'house' ball , I tried out for the Mite Select team. The Mite Select team was a team made up of the best players in Richmond. Luckily, my best friend and I made the team and her dad was the coach. We ended up not winning the major tournament, but we did win the base race. People who made the Mite Select team had a really good chance to make the Richmond Islanders- the rep team. So I decided to try out and fortunately I made the team. For our first year of rep life, our team did extremely well. People commented that we were the best first year team they have seen in awhile. I have continued to play for the Islanders and still do to this day. There are many great stories behind this team, like placing in Provincials and Nationals! We have also traveled a lot, and have won countless tournaments in the states. I love playing for the Richmond Islanders and I will continue to play for this organization for as long as I can.
